ready, set, gingham!

Elizabeth may have already finished her gingham quilt top (cheater, I swear) but I've only just started cutting fabric! We'll be having our Gingham Giveaway on Wednesday, so don't forget to check back and enter to win some pretties.

There was a LOT more vintage gingham in that box she sent than I realized, so I'm guessing I'll have a bunch left over. One can never have too much fabric, though, right?

I've designed a block that involves foundation paper piecing. I've started cutting strips of fabric and am about ready to start sewing. Although I still need to figure out what I'm using for background material. Maybe I have an old white sheet hoarded stashed away someplace.

This gingham-printed vintage sheet should work great for the backing, don't you think? I thrifted it a while back and it makes me super happy to use up the things I already have laying around.

On another note, these pictures were taken in my new sewing space! The boy helped me paint it white and fill it with all my stuff. Stuff which still needs to be unpacked and put away in some kind of organized fashion. Baby steps!

  3. I love these colors. I got a huge box of old materials from a lady that lived near me. It had a lot of old material in it. A chunk of which is Gingham. I have had a lot of fun making things out of it. I made a quilt for my dad out of the more manly gingham. And I have made some hot pads out of the pinks and yellows to see how they worked together. And plan to make a few more cool projects out of it because they are so much fun.
