This is my second attempt at a Rose Star block, you can find a tutorial by Clare here.
After finishing 45 hexie flowers I've decided on how I want to piece them together. I'm adding a border to each one so they finish as hexagons, 7 inches side to side.
After making three I wished I had used two similar colored prints for each background like I had with the flowers. I'm gonna do the rest like this and maybe I'll fix the first three later. Or maybe they'll blend right in and I won't have to!
I'm now realizing the amount of work I have ahead of me but hopefully I won't run out of steam :D

It is a lot of work, but I found on the one hexagon project I did, they actually went really fast once I got in the groove. Your blocks look great so far.
ReplyDeleteYou're a beast with these hexies! Have you laid all of them out together yet?
ReplyDeleteI've never tried them, mainly because my hand stitching is the suck. I curtsy to your talent madam :)
They look great! Love the rose and star and I think the background of the flowers will blend in :)
ReplyDeletelovely! love the colours of the rose and star block and I agree with Lucy and think the backgrounds will blend. Those flowers pop out at you. I love hand piecing hexies. x
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I wish I would have thought of that with my hexie quilt!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your rose star and hexagons. Making these rose star blocks definitely makes me want to paper piece something with hexagons as well :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are great - isn't EPP addictive? And so nice to have a transportable project.
ReplyDeleteI like them! If you put the blocks that 'blend' on the outer edges, you'll never notice them.
ReplyDeleteLove your Rose Star block. I personally have never done any English paperpiecing although I should give it a try since I do enjoy hand sewing.

I love those hexie flower hexies! Such a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is part two my comment on your last post. See that top flower--laid out on the dark charcol gray asphalt? And see the difference as to how it pops as compared to the others, that are laid out on medium-valued silvered wood? Value. That's your ticket.
ReplyDeleteGosh, these are beautiful! Is this what you did while in AZ? Next time you head there, we'll have to make arrangements. I'll go and visit my daughter who lives in No. Phoenix and we can meet up at a quilt shop and for lunch (I always have my car with me).
