Work in Progress Wednesday #1

I've stalked the heck out of Lee's freshly pieced blog, and it's time for my first work-in-progress link-up! I like her format so much I'm just going to borrow it :D

There are a few projects that I have on-going or on hold, but I haven't blogged about them yet so I won't bother talking about them either:P

New Projects:

Warm Cool Quilt Along
I've got all my HSTs pieced and about half squared up. I used the Missouri Star Quilt Company method, demonstrated in this post by Christina. Last time I attempted HSTs I did it the regular way and spent a lot of time being a perfectionist. They turned out great, but this time I thought I'd try speeding it up and just flew through it. Big mistake. They somehow ended up just enough short of 4" that I had to square them up at 3.5", which will significantly decrease the finished size of my quilt. Especially since they're apparently supposed to finish at 4.5". I'm thinking perhaps I should have started with larger than 7" squares? Or maybe I cut them short to begin with... any thoughts?! Either way, it'll still work. I'll just end up adding a border!

Kaleidoscope Quilt Along
I've signed up, joined the flickr group, and started my first draft of fabric picks from my stash. I'm also oozing with enthusiasm!

  6. Your hsts look really nice, squaring them up is a great idea, they fit together so much better when I do that. In terms of size, I try to remember to do a few tests before I cut all my squares because it seems so easy to make a mistake on that, but since all of yours are the same size, they will work nicely together. Also, you could just add more hsts to your quilt to make it bigger if you did not want a border. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do.

  9. Welcome to WIP Wednesday! I can't help you with the HST sizing, since I've never tried that method. Too much math for me. : ) But your HSTs look great and I can't wait to see the finished quilt!

Thanks for linking up, have a great week. : )
